Hangover Smoothie
Managing a website and being 'forced' to frequent restaurant and bars to determine our opinion can be hard our our livers! Here's a smoothie recipe we have found that does wonders to help us feel better:
3 carrots
3 celery sticks (if you can get them)
1/2 a cucumber (use a whole cucumber if you can't find celery)
1 small beetroot roughly chopped
Blend everything and chug. You'll feel better in a jiffy!
In case you are wondering why this is such an effective elixir, here's the scoop:
Carrots are rich in betacarotene which is good for the immune system as well as for skin and eye health. Celery contains active compounds called pthalides which relax the muscles of the arteries and help regulate blood pressure. It also has calming and diuretic properties. Cucumbers are a strong diuretic and can also help lower your blood pressure. Beetroot (my fav!) is very rich in immune-boosting betacarotene and folate. When you blend them into a smoothy it helps your body digest and assimilate all of the good stuff much more quickly so that you feel the benefits much faster. Enjoy!
