Frommer's Lisbon Day by Day

by Louise Pole-Baker

I used this amazing travel guide when my Mother came to visit for a week and we had to get in as many sights as physically possible. It clearly tells you how to see the best of everything in the smartest, most time-efficient way. If you're not sure what you want to do, it includes special interest tours that appeal to romantics, art club fans, architectural enthusiasts, hero worshippers and those wanting a day discovering hand painted tiles.

There are 18 great neighbourhood walking tours through Alfama/Graça Avenida/Parque, Baixa//Chiado, Bairro Alto/Cais do Sodré, Estrela to Alcantara, Belém and Parque do Nacoes. We used their guidelines to discover parts of Lisbon I didn't know existed and to add on to walks that I already liked to do.

They also include day trips to Sintra, Estoril and Cascais for people who want to venture out of the city at some point.

There are tons of maps, photos and easy to read descriptions that make this compact book - and the handy map that is included - super easy to bring with you and use.

So, if you are in Lisbon for a short time or want a guide book for the occasional sightseeing tour throughout your stay, I strongly recommend this gem.
